Foam-Based TPS Engineering Technician

 

Job Requirements and Description

 

ESTS team position with Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.  2 years of college and 6 years experience with automatic spray-on foam application, manual spray-on and pour foam application is required (or an equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of 8 years).  Ability to maintain and operate equipment associated with these processes is required.  Excellent communication skills required.  Experience with cellular foam formulation and component blending desired.

 

Other Duties:

 

Support new Thermal Protection System (TPS) foam insulation facility at MSFC.  Support development of new foam formulations, process, and equipment evaluations, and installation/operation of foam-based TPS processing equipment for the Ares I and V launch vehicles.  Interface with prime contractor personnel involved with foam-based TPS for Shuttle External Tank, and Ares I & V vehicles.
