Color Editor

Position Summary:   Analyze scatter proof/digital file to samples or transparencies.  Perform color moves to assure color matching within printer specifications.  Accountable for quality of images for Tab, Brandmanagement Projects, Collateral Pieces, and Graphics. This is a 2nd shift position from 2:00 - 10:30 p.m.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

 

• Analyze scatter proof/digital file to samples or transparencies.

• Make sound color moves for the assurance of color matching, taking into consideration printer

  specifications, i.e. minimum/maximum dot and dot gain.

• Create merge pages..

• Combine multiple images with or without backgrounds per layout using silo masks and adding shadows.

• Retouch electronic files (remove blemishes, props, etc.).

• Clone/extend backgrounds as needed.

• Strip-in new products.

• Accountable for quality of all respective images.

• Convert 4/c images and adjust files for B/W ROP’s applying unsharp mask as necessary.

• Implement color moves instructed by Assistant Manager of Color Editing or Senior Color Editor.

• Quality check all assigned hires images to avoid problems at separator.

• Assure that all assigned color proofing requests were completed.

• Review any necessary Collateral Pieces on Press. May necessitate travel to local print facility.

• Communicate any schedule or production concerns with Assistant Manager of Color Editing.

• Weekend hours and overtime when necessary.

 

Secondary Responsibilities:

 

• Review Color Kodak Approval proofs (submits) to scatter proofs to assure accurate color moves.

• Contact buyers and designers when necessary.

• Attend Photoshop/Color seminars to achieve maximum software potential.

 Preferred Qualifications: 

• Minimum 3 years experience with 4/c scanning, color correcting/retouching, camera and printing

  practices or other related experience.  Knowledge of basic color theory.

• Minimum 2 years experience with Macintosh computer using Photoshop.
